I purchased a 2003 34D Brave this August. I am winterizing the rig soon. I have a question that is contradicting what to do with the city water line. My manual says to drain the city line by putting your finger in the back flow valve and gently pushing the small button in the center of the connector.
I was at a seminar this fall and I remember being told not to push on the button as it will ruin the spring and a leak will occur every time you pressurize the system using the on board pump.

Anyone heard of this and what do you do.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have,

Gib

I had an 02 Brave 34D for six years. Every time I winterized the water system, I pushed the 'button' and never had a leak problem from the inlet valve.
Biggest problem I had using the pump was forgetting to turn the 'tank fill valve' back to 'city water' position.

The first time I winterized my 03 Journey, I "pressed the button" while the system was under pressure. Next spring the valve leaked. I was able to disassemble it and reseat an o ring that had been displaced.

Since then, the last thing I do "press the button" with the system depressurized. All the water may not come out, but what remains will not damage anything if it freezes.

I always blow my lines at the city water connection and have not had a leak after 7 winters.
