Hello, this is my first posting and it's actually for my parents. (who aren't real internet savy ). They recently upgraded from a Journey DL to a very nice Vectra but didn't seem to get all the owner's manuals with it. They have figured out how to go to high idle, but from what I can gather there is the ability to set the idle shutdown such that when EGT's have reached a safe level the engine will automatically shut down. Does anyone have an owner's manual that tells how to trigger this functionality? I've searched everywhere I can on the web and found nothing other than CAT saying it is built into the engine.

Another, less pressing questions is . . .How do you turn on the charger for the built in handheld 2 way radios?

Have a good one,
Dave

I have a CAT C7 in my Meridian. The idle shutdown timer is programed in the ECM. It comes from Winnebago disabled. You have to have a CAT or Freightliner service center program it for you. I had mine reprogrammed for 5 minutes idle shutdown. I didn't like it because the only way you can disable it is to tap the brake pedal just before the timeout. It was nice for a stop at a rest stop, but it was a pain in the neck at other times because it kept shutting down when I didn't want it too. I had it reprogrammed to disable it.
By the way, I had to pay Freightliner $85 to program it. Fortunately, I had a CAT dealer disable it for me free while I was getting an ECM reflash under warrenty.

I can't help you on the 2 way's. I ordered my coach without them.

The charger on the two ways.
If the lights are not lit, then it is not working. A fuse was blown on mine and I had if fixed at the dealers under warranty.
No problem since..Good Miles and

Same on my 2-way radios had a blown fuse. Relpaced it with a slow blow same amps about a year ago, still working. FYI, the fuse is the inline type in the wiring behind the 2-way radio panel.
