Hi everyone,

I want to replace the rear analogue TV on my 35U with an LCD. It is presently installed in a corner cabinet that is kitty corner as is probably the case with all of these models

Has anyone else done it? If so, would you mind sharing how you did and perhaps provide some pictures?

Our cabinet is cherry wood which makes any major cabonet reconstruction very expensive

Thanks for your help

Preston

I had the crt tv fry itself so I was in a hurry to get to the plug to unplug it. After that I said "that's how that's done. Put another crt back in temporarily. Now I am trying to figure out a way to recoup the space when I replace with an lcd (soon). So I will be interested to see ideas people have come up with to use that space.

I had the same cherry wood corner TV that I kept banging my head on. To solve this problem I removed the whole cabinet. I then made a box that I could mount a LCD TV in and inserted in the wall. I made the box out white covered particle board 3/4 thick. I mounted the TV on a movable bracket and then coverd the TV with a Picture on a piano hinge in the corner. I put little round plastic covers over the exposed holes left by removing the TV. I did have to buy a piece of rv wallboard to fill in the gap above the new box and the ceiling. Matching the existing wall board color was the biggest problem. I finally had to paint the wall board and do some dabbing with a paint covered rag to get it to match. Ounce you get the old TV out it will be apparent as to what needs to be done.

I replaced my bedroom TV 2 weeks ago. I made the mount from 3/4 plywood that spaned from sided to side. Attached TV to wood mount using longer screws. I added two extention knobs that came with the TV to the top only so the TV would pitch down. Applied black silicone where the wood and back of TV touched for extra strength. Screwed 2 pieces of wood to both sides to rest mount onto while I screwed mount to cabinet. Then we bought some shelving at home depot to make the back and sides of the shelf you see below the TV. Just happened to math exact. Cut a cheap door mat to line the bottom of shelf. Took a couple of hours plus the running around to find the matching wood.

Very nice job Don G. My TV cabinet hung off the wall and jutted out over the corner of the bed. Thats why I had to mount it in the wall.
