2007 Voyage

I am planning on buying a 2007 Voyage with very low miles that appears to be in very nice condition. I have a concern about the basement air. Is this something that would keep you from buying this unit?

about what are you concerned? noise? it will be a bit noisier than roof air...we've had both. space? you'll lose an exterior storage compartment with basement air but you'll have no roof pennetrations with basement air. all trade-offs. us? you have to decide. basement air didn't enter into our buy/don't buy decision.

I've been reading about not being able to locate parts for the basement units and that Winnebago is no longer installing them.

Hi I have a 2007 voyage and have enjoyed our AC now for many years, my wife and I thought the basement air would be an issue while its not silent we have found it less noisy than our previous coach that had roof AC that would make a drumming sound and made it difficult listening to TV. Our coach doesn't have that problem as the AC is in the back end and under the bed so noise is very low while watching TV and doesn't bother my wife or I while sleeping or watching tv in bed room. Every one has a different opinion but we are happy with our AC.
Hope this helps.

I love mine. I lived for 12 years with two roof A/Cs and the basement air beats them hands down. The thing is so quiet back in the bedroom that I can't hear it at all while enjoying TV. When I go to bed, of course, it's night so it just doesn't run as often as it's cooler and I generally fall asleep before it runs.

As far as obtaining parts, I have read many times that there are generics to replace most everything in the unit. Getting it out is a bit of a chore, but there's a video and an excellent write up on how. Once it's out, a DIY'er won't have much trouble replacing the caps or fan components. And a HVAC tech can service it easily. If you're handy, getting it out is tedious, but not that challenging.

Can not imagine not having it actually. A friend of mine had a minor problem with his, called his HVAC company that maintains his house system, sent out the tech, he fixed it in 20 minutes, tech said it is basically just like his system in his stick n brick....I have had zero problems with my 07 model.

Love our basement air in our 2004 Itasca Horizon 40AD. So much quieter than the roof air on the 2016 Vista LX 27N we could not wait to get rid of. Never could keep that coach cool. Not a problem with basement air.

I too am looking at a 2008 Voyage but I cannot for the life of me find out the BTU's, living here in Texas of which most of our trips will be in the state or at least in the south I have been told it is best to have 15,000, does anyone know the BTU's on this type of unit.
