I recently purchased a 2007 Winnebago View motor home mounted on a 2006 Dodge Sprinter. I was on vacation in Florida when the dreaded plastic turbo resonator blew out. The vehicle only had 2,800 miles on it at the time of the breakdown. I noticed an immediate loss of power. I had to hold the accelerator all the way down just to go 35 MPH. I kept watching the RPMs and the temperature gage, and they remained normal. There was no warning light visible on the dash. I called Dodge roadside service. This was a holiday weekend, right before New Years. All they could do was tow my motor home to an authorized Dodge Sprinter dealer on Saturday. They would not be able to evaluate the vehicle until Tuesday morning. I had to hire a cab to a get to the airport, where I could rent a car to return to Michigan. We were traveling with our 2 dogs. We both had to be back to work on Tuesday morning. We had no choice but to rent a car and head home. The Dodge Sprinter was miraculously fixed by midday on Tuesday. The problem was the infamous plastic turbo resonator. We had heard a loud pop under the hood that was the 2 piece plastic blowing apart. We at the time thought that the transmission had blown. I am mad as **** at both Dodge and Winnebago. Dodge says that they will only pay for 4 days of rental car fees. Winnebago has offered to pay nothing. I had to take 3 days vacation to return to Florida to pick up the motor home. The total distance traveled was an extra 2200 miles roundtrip. Surprisingly, Dodge replaced the broken plastic resonator with an exact replica. I drove back to Michigan very carefully knowing that I could easily blow apart this cheap plastic part. The on board computer of the Dodge Sprinter mistakenly thought that there was a catastrophic failure with the turbo, and automatically went into limp mode.

Welcome to the forum and sorry for the problem with your rig. Traveling in an RV can be an 'adventure' in more ways than one.

Hope your problems are few and you will enjoy many happy miles. Come back often and share your experiences with us.

Lonnie,

Welcome to iRV2 . . . you'll find a great bunch here. I've had many questions answered and have lots of fun, too.

We have about 16,000 miles on our View and have had a turbo resonator failure once at about 3,000 miles. Like many View and Navion owners, we now carry a spare resonator just in case - they only cost about $40 and are fairly simple to change. No problems, however since the first one failed. I also understand a company is manufacturing an aluminum device which eliminates the resonator. If I ever have more trouble, I may go to that for a fix.

Our View has provided many miles of fun and relaxation. We love it and would buy another. If your interested more detailed discussions of View and Navion issues, perhaps you could join the Yahoo View/Navion Group. Sign up here:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/View-Navion/

HOWEVER . . . keep iRV2 your source for broader RV issues (as well as more fun).

Good luck with your rig . . . and please, get a spare resonator, then begin to build your confidence and have some fun.

Warren
