Dealer called yesterday and my 2011 Winnebago Sightseer 35J had came in . So we drove over to Baton Rouge to check it out and make sure everything we ordered was on MH. We will be picking it up next Thursday. I will post pic's after I get home due to it was raining big time yesterday. One think I forgot to check is how much of a drop in a ball hitch mount I will need. I had a Class C before and I use a 2 inch drop. But this MH is a lot higher it has 22.5 inch tires. Was wondering if anyone would know how much of a drop ball mount I would need. We are planing to go camping on Friday after we pick it up and I need to haul my golf cart to campground.

OK, here's what you need to do. Level the golf cart trailer to slightly nose up maybe a couple of degrees. Measure from the ground up to the inside the ball cup w/i an inch or so. Go back to the dealer and see if you rig is on level ground. Measure from the center of the square opening on the receiver to the ground.

Subtract the trailer height from the receiver centerline height and you will have a good idea of what you need to buy.

I went with the fully adjustable hitch and ball so I can use this combo on any vehicle with any tow. See pics below:

The base of the ball is actually a stem that allows you to put a 1.5, 2, or 2-5/8 ball on the stem and secure with a pin.

The rise or drop of the hitch is fully adjustable to probably up or down 6-inches. Get this set up and you'll be AOK for your trip.

I have a 2009 35J with 19.5" wheels and use a 6" drop with my Blue Ox towbar and Suzuki XL7. It gets the towbar pretty close to level.

With the 22.5" wheels you'll likely need a 6" drop for most anything you tow, but it's going to depend on the height of the trailer/toad.

The recommendation may be different with the larger wheels, but on mine, the owners manual states that a 4" drop is the maximum. I asked Winnebago about that and they said that you lose towing capacity with a larger drop because larger drops increase torque on the receiver.

I could probably get by with a 4" drop on mine, but I like having the towbar close to level and my toad is far enough under the tow capacity that I can lose a little capacity to the larger drop. The only other issue is that the larger drop makes it more likely to bottom out...
