For those who care, the lastest issue (Feb 2012) of the FMCA mag has a 5 page review of the 2012 Tour as well as being the cover photo. Nice writeup.

Time to start saving...

Just read the article last night and I would agree that it is a very nice unit.

Thank you "emiddleb" for the alert. I currently have a 42JD on order and found the
article very interesting...MotorHome mag. did an article on the 42QD in May 2011
issue. Both of these reviews had few negatives...My new coach is being built later this month, and I can already tell you lots of negs. or things I would change.
But the Winnebago offered more for the money compared with two other popular brands that I considered.

What other brands did you consider?

Why do you want to get rid of your Phaeton?

Althought not the high end Tour my 2012 Journey is next in the line, we have been quite happy with the quality. I had a 2008 Winnebago and that is why when I upgraded I bought the Jorney. Build quality has been great with just little things that have needed corrected..

Bigdomino - sorry for the delay answering your question. I think the Newmar Dutch Star was in the class of the Tour. Very nice construction, but something about it didn't excite me.Not alot of them out there to look at.Of the two dealers close to me,one is known for poor service and little discounts, the other showed me some questionable practices (poor)...and they are a large dealer. The Mountain Aire is what I wanted - very nice,to much money.
Other consideration was the Allegro Bus.We all know that they sell a lot of them and their service (factory) is unmatched in the industry, but upon close inspection I saw quality issues that bothered me .I expected these issues with Winnebago, not Tiffin.
I thought they tried to get to fancy with counter top and cabinet designs. Certainly my opinion only. Lastly I got up on top, thought it looked cheap. Air conditioner covers, side rails, and roof just did not look like I thought they should.
As far as it goes with the Tour.I saw many things I wished were different.I won't start now.Should pick it up in 3 weeks, and then I'll have plenty to say. I feel like the mag reviews only write the positives and forget the negs.
All I need is a few hours behind the wheel and a couple of days inside then I'll have plenty to say.
