On a recent trip to Florida, we discovered that once again, our front drivers side main slideout lower seal was leaking air into the coach profusely despite being fully retracted. Air incursion has been the Achilles Heal of this coach, and we always arrive at our destination with a dusty and inclement interior. Winnie has tried valiantly (5 factory visits) to correct this, but to no permanent avail.
I have decided to take it on myself, and either repair, improve or completely redesign and replace the current sealing system.
Our problem on this slideout is always the lower exterior seal (the one that should seal when the room is "in") leaking air in over about a 3 foot length, essentially under the stove area, but along the floor, and between the floor and the slideout in its retracted position. Depending on the wind outside and vehicle speed, its almost not noticeable (driving slowly) to a very strong draft (at highway speeds).
I have looked over the exploded diagram in Winnies parts listing, and I did not locate a good detail of the seal. There is a drawing, but its a bit busy and simple to make anything out.
Searching this website, I did locate Cleanseal in South Bend, IN that appears to supply all manner of seals to the RV industry.
I am interested in any of your experiences with this issue, and specifically if anyone else has found a solution to this problem.
Thanks!
