Considering buyning a 2000 Journey 36L which has 30 amp service cord. Looks like there was an option in 2000 for 50 amp service. My question is w/ the A/C. Does this year have the dual compressor unit that runs 1 comperessor on low amperage circuit and 2 comperssors on higher amperage. Not sure if this is possible w/ 30 amp service. Winnebago does not list the BTU's of the A/C's.. at least I can't find it. I guess the real question is what is the A/C 's BTU's w/ 30 amps on a 2000 Journey.
Thanks
Ramon

The 2000 Journey should have the energy management system that will let you run both compressors most of the time. If the circuit becomes overloaded the system will shut down certain things until the load is lower. You should be ok with the 30 amp as the new air conditioners use less amps than the old ones.

Thanks Bflem
I was sent the Spec Sheet and it does say "Energy Management System" I guess my thinking is like older motorhomes and 5th wheels that require 50 amps is for 2 a/c's. I might hold out and wait for an 02 as they seemed to have a few more options. The current one has a propane gen. which I really don't want.

You might also ensure the system has heat pumps. After buying my 2000 Suncruiser (first RV; did not know front from back), found out that it had only air cond modes on each compressor; no heat modes. Mine was an early 2000, also w/30 Amp svc. Later 2000 models had heat pumps.

The EMS makes 30A svc very workable, tho I prefer 50A (which I now have) The EMS is really a GREAT system, which I frequently use at parks w/no 50A svc.

30 amp is sufficient to operate both compressors and if you add loads the control center will shed.
