I had an unusual incidence with my generator yesterday. I took the cover off to have a look at the generator then replaced the cover. The following morning I heard a clicking noise coming from the generator compartment. I took the cover off and the noise stopped. I replaced the cover and the noise began again. I took the cover off and the noise stopped. I went inside the MH and decided to start the generator. I have owned the MH for four months and have exercised the generator one hour each month therefore the generator had four hours on the readout, but the hour meter was now showing twenty six point six hours. It started with no problem and I ran it for one hour. Prior to replacing the cover I looked closely to see if the cover was pushing on anything and discovered wires wrapped in a plastic loom very close to the "prime stop" switch. I moved the loom and wire away from the switch and replaced the cover. The clicking noise did not start. Could this be my problem? Is there anyway to roll the hour meter back to the correct reading? I thought the hour meter only registered time if the generator was running. Sorry for the "story".
Regards, Moe

You may have inadvertently duplicated the OFF push on the starter toggle switch. This is used to prime the fuel path from the tank to the carburetor. I usually hold it down in the off position for 10 seconds and it reduces the cranking time.
The fuel pump has a solenoid motor that turns the drive coil on and off automatically. That makes a mild clicking sound.
Have someone hold the switch in the off position, then go outside and listen for the clicking sound. If it is the same, then the above explanation holds true.

If thats the case, the fuel pump was running 24 hours.
I believe it has a high-temp cutoff, and it still runs, so its not burnt out.
Make sure the wires are secured and forget about it..
