I am surprised at the 7.7 mileage! I thought that a DP would get better mileage than the gas powered chassis. I get 8.4 (over 13K miles) with my W-22 fully loaded towing a car.

Even though we have a dedicated 8" monitor for VMSpc for the pilot, I dare not add another gauge. I already get, um, negative feedback from the copilot when I ask a question about a VMS reading. Throttle position will have to remain a mystery.

Regarding expectations about mileage...

We are about 36,000 pounds GCVW and I think 7.7 is pretty good. From questions I have asked, mileage for a 42-45' coach of maybe 40,000+ pounds will run in the high 5s to mid 6s (with an ISM or ISX Cummins.)

I have talked to truckers and asked them about their engines and mileage. These guys are 60-80,000 pounds and run in the 5s. (There are many, many variables and these remarks are a gross generalization of MPG figures!)

Some gas rigs do exceptionally well regarding mileage and power. I actually has a gas rig pass me going up a long grade somewhere - wow I was impressed
