99 Degrees inside coach!!!

Hello Again, Last month we posted out problems with the AC, etc. Ended up replacing the circuit/computer board at the unit. Now both compressors and fan comes on. Riding down Hwy 41 in Central CA heading to the coast and boy is is boiling inside. Air blowing is probably just slightly cooler than ambient temp. Because the compressors were down for so long could we need freon or a charge? If so, do we have to take to a winnebago auth rep or can a house service do it. The local camping world is not set up to service basement air. Heading to Pismo so much cooler when we get there. Anyone know any AC service reps in the Pismo beach area. thx.

How is the air filter and did you clean the coils inside and out? Is the duct still firmly attached to the back of the unit when viewed from underneath the coach? Any cold drafts outside comming from the back of the coach when the unit is running? Make sure it is clean and check for leaks as a start.

On either 30 amp shore power or running the gen set (so you can read the amperage), you should be pulling 21-23 amps if both compressors are running. Turn the hot water heater off so that doesn't skew the results.

If Freon is the problem, it's R-22. I suggest a local air conditioning shop to look at it because it's a basic residential unit, installed in your RV. Explain to the A/C shop that it's NOT a roof unit, but a residential unit, with R-22 which is a common Freon.

But first, a call to RV Products (316-832-4357/3468) might help. They make the unit. Hope this helps.

The RVP unit is sealed --- should never need coolant recharge. You have some other problem. If you know for sure (by looking as the amp meter) that both compressors are running, the most common problem is a separated duct behind the rear cap. If the unit itself needs service, the best way to find service locations is to look on the RVP website and check for service locations. Go to http://www.rvcomfort.com/rvp/service/need_repairs.php -- you can search by zip code or for an entire state. Under "Services," for a basement unit your want to see the letters "uf" to know they are trained to service your unit.

Would we still get air flow if a duct behind the rear cap was separated? We're getting air flow, just not cold.
