A&E Weather Pro wind sensor

I'm needing to replace a broken roof mount wind sensor on a 2004 Itasca Suncruiser 33v. Any ideas where to obtain such a part?

Go on the Winnebago website. You can find parts catalogs for your specific rv.

You are going to find that the roof top wind sensor has been discontinued for some time now and is obsolete. Finding one may be a problem. You might try to find some RV salvage yards in your area.

I know this because I am in the process of replacing the control box on mine. Of course the model for mine is also discontinued and I am forced to buy the newest model. On the new model the wind sensor attaches to the end of the forward awning arm up by the motor.

My challenge is trying to trace the wire routing from where it enters the coach to the storage bin the control box is located in. Until I get ambitious enough to do that, I intend to simply plug the wire into the "brain" and leave the sensor in the bin with the control box.

If you can see the bottom panel of your current control box you will find the model and ser# of the box you have. That will help in finding the correct wind sensor to match your box.

If your wind sensor is the kind that has three cups that rotates then you are out of luck. I have heard that is out of production due to a patent infringement.

Don't bother, they never worked anyway. The design was flawed from the beginning and was covered here many years ago. The short story is that when the temp gets too low that the awning retracts to prevent it icing up in the event of rain. Well on the flip side, when the warm weather is just right, that same sensor runs out of tolerance and essentually goes into a freeze retract mode. I had it happen more than once when I've had a patio screen on it, and another time with windsock lights. I did all the (few) mods to prevent this but no luck. Fortunately I stopped it both times.. So, as I said, don't bother
