A&E Weatherpro Awning help

I have been having problems with our awning recently. When it is very hot and in direct sunlight the awning will only deploy a few feet and then stop. Sometimes I can retract it a few inches and then redeploy it. Other times I must wait a minute or two before it will work either way. This happens when using the key chain remote, the switch in the stairwell and at the switch on the control box.

I had it in for other repairs and the shop says I need a new motor. I am told that the motor has a thermal breaker internally in the motor that may be the cause. Of course the breaker alone cannot be replaced but requires the entire motor assembly to be replaced.

Can anyone tell me the part number for the motor. My hardware is bright white and I suspect the awning is a 2006 model. The model number is; 805EA15.001B. I am hoping to find a source for the part at a better price than the dealer can offer.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

It sounds like you are pretty handy if you are OK with changing the motor yourself. How about if you pull the motor and see if you can find that thermal switch and bypass it to see if indeed that is the problem? It may be that the awning is sticking and working hard enough to heat the motor enough to kick the breaker.
You could also test the amp draw while it's opening and see if it is about right.
Happy Glamping.

Not sure I'm actually ready to change out the motor myself. That spring tension inside the roller tube scares the heck out of me. I'm hoping that I can find the part at a better price than the dealer can offer. I have another repair facility in the area that I am going to check tomorrow.

I've changed the motor out in mine due to a broken brush holder.......did it with awning almost closed......got motor off Amazon.....spring is on opposite end of roller.....pretty easy job if one doesn't mind ladder......I also removed the gas assist, just one end, to take pressure off arms......used a ratchet strap around roller and was able to tie off on roof to keep from having to support the roller and stab motor at same time...

Thanks for the reply. Not afraid of the ladder, but would want at least an extra set of hands to help. Do you happen to remember the part number for the motor?
