A Few Modifications

We have made a few repairs and modifications to our 2012 Winnebago Journey recently, and I wanted to share them with you.

First, the closet rod support had worked loose over the years, and I chose to repair it with slightly larger screws with rubber washers. My thinking is this may help with the vibration of going down the road.Click image for larger version

Second, we have had trouble with the bi-fold door to the bedroom since we bought this coach. It was always coming loose, and clanging against the resting wall while traveling.

I removed one slide bracket, removed the metal knob, and then threaded the hole. Then I installed a threaded knob, so that I can use the knob as a way to tighten the slide lock. This should keep the door from opening as we go down the road.

I liked the way this worked out, so I did the other locking slide as well. Only thing left is to stain the knobs as close to the interior as I can.

Isn't it fun to actually IMPROVE something in your coach???? Fixing something is always good but, IMPROVING on it, is even better. I've been that way with all our coaches, boats, motor cycles, cars, trucks and more. Not that I have to take things apart, that's not it at all. The old adage, "It if ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT" does apply to me for sure. But, if something's not working right, broke or is about to break, I not only look at why it broke but, look into maybe improving on it, to keep it from breaking again, if possible. Sometimes all you can do is just replace the part. That's good too.

Congrats on your "MacGuyvering" your coach, I applaud things like that.
