Yesterday I hooked my battery charger backwards to the chassis batteries on my Winnebago Journey 36 Ld diesel pusher 330 cat. I caught it quickly and reversed it. Now my ABS dash light is on. Any suggestions on why? perhaps I blew a fuse somewhere ? This is a Freightliner Chassis.

Sorry but going to have to ask questions .

What year is your Freightliner chassis ?

Were the chassis batteries totally dead when you hooked up the charger ?

Have you tried disconnecting the the chassis batteries ; charging them fully ; then re-connecting ?

Sorry it is a 2002 the batteries were not completely dead before I hooked the charger. I have not disconnected the Chassis batteries and re connected them. Hope this helps.

Hooking up the charger in reverse , should note have blown a fuse , but anything is possible.
Please re-post if the disconnect doesn't help.

I disconnected batteries charged and reconnected. Light still on cycled key several times, Drove up and down driveway several times about 75' light still on, Brakes are working fine. Any more suggestions ? I do not see the sensors on the wheels for the ABS am I looking in the wrong place?

OK , without a code from the ABS system , there is a lot of guess work involved , so here we go .

Have you been through the chassis fuse box and tested every fuse ?

I have wiring schematics and diagrams , for my XC chassis , but have been told when I shared them that National (and perhaps Winne) wiring is different ; possible that my side rad chassis had a different harness than rear rad units.

I don't have a picture of the sensor location , and that shouldn't be different , but this photo , inside of the LF wheel , with arrow showing the sensor wiring through the frame , will give an indication of where to look. Just follow the wiring from the frame it's attached to the air line at the point shown .
I'll see if I have a photo in the rear.
If the coach was sitting for a while there is always the possibility of rodent damage to the wiring.

EDIT: No pictures of the rear sensor wiring , but the wires drop from the frame to the diff housing.
The ABS system may have two power fuses ( mine does).
I would also say to contact Freightliners free help line to see if pdf files of the wiring diagrams and schematics are still available for your chassis . I've heard that they are slowly phasing out the old systems from their computers.
1-800-385-4357 have your chassis serial number handy; and ask about joining DTNA Connect , for online access to parts info , linked to your serial number.

Just an update I talked to freightliner and they suggested I drive it to see if it would reset. I drove 30 miles at 55 mph, It did not reset .all the brake lights work it builds and maintains air, the brakes work fine and the exhaust brake works. I talked to the freightliner garage again and he said $200.00 for a 1 hour diagnostic and report could get me in about a week from now.

Also found the left front wheel sensor from your description and pic. I turned it a bit but was nervous to remove it to try to clean. Does it just pull out ?.

I did check all the fuses I could find in the front above the generator, for the fuses and relays. all 10,15,20, and 30 amp fuses look good. What I can't check because it's above my capability are the relays.
Also to confuse matters my boards are mounted upside down from the schematics for the fuses and relays.

Sorry about the delay with this reply , I had to get my DTNA Connect account re-instated to view the installation method of the sensors .

The ABS wheel sensors are pushed into a barrel clamp that fits tight in the knuckle , with spring tines that lock the sensors in place ; due to rust ; removing the sensors may destroy the barrel clamp and then require replacement of of the clamp ( that could be hard to come by) and removing the brake drum to remove debris.
I'll see if I can come up with any method that would allow the sensor to be tested in place. .

Thanks Skip our trip south has been postponed for this winter now probably won't get to it until spring. Thanks for all the responses.
