Playing with my expensive toy again...changing from b/w to color BU system and need to run a new cable from color cam to the dash. Has anyone here had occasion to drop a wire down behind the rear cap on a Journey and, if so, any helpful suggestions?
I'm thinking I may need to remove one of the brake or signal light assemblies and fish around in the area.

The rear cap is fairly open, but you do have to contend with the engine air intake duct rising towards the top on the drivers side and the A/C duct on the passenger side. Between the two, I think I'd try the drivers side.
When I replaced those junky OEM incandescent tailights with LED versions lights, I had to move the hole for the wiring to the center of the tail light opening. To make the wiring easier, I drilled the new hole with a 1-1/2" hole saw centered behind the lights to attache the wiring to the new lights. Once the hole was there, I found I could access the wiring pretty easily.
With a larger hole hidden behind the lights, you should be able to push a wire up to the top center of the cap. You may even find the original camera wiring accessable and be able to use it as a pull wire.
The photo below show's what you'll see when you remove the light if you decide to put a access hole there.

Joe:
I had not removed one of the lights yet...was thinking there was a larger opening. I do plan to drop the cable from the camera location over to the driver's side, run it along the frame and up to the dash. Drilling an access hole behind the light is a great idea.
Update: Was able to drop a pull wire from the camera location down to the driver's side with no problem. Got lucky. Now I get to crawl around under the greasy beast and run the camera cable to the front!!
According to Winne, the existing camera cable runs up, not down, so won't be using it as a pull wire.
Thanks.
