Has anyone tried adding a third or even fourth battery to the coach. If yes, where did you put it, or them, and is there anything to be concerned about?

I put 4 trojan 105s under the steps when I took out the 2-12 volts that it came with, it's a tight fit but they'll make it. That was 4 years ago & the're still doing fine. I didn't have room for holddowns, but those batteries aren't going anywhere as packed in as they are. I've got a picture on my desktop, if I can tommorrow I'll email it too you. Don't know what yr or model you have, but they fit on mine,

(Since that thread, I've swapped to 4 6 volts myself. Measure carefully. It took a little cutting and welding to do mine. I also had to raise the batteries about 3/4" so the steps wouldn't hit the batteries when they retract.)

I also switch from 3 12v to 4 6volt t105s also had to lower the battery tray about 2 inches. Took some welding and about a days work but well worth it that was 5 years ago and still using same batteries.

I converted to 4 6 volt batteries and only had to move the cables around a little bit. I moved the starting battery to the extreme left of the battery tray.

I didn't bother with a hold down since they are in there so tightly that they aren't going anywhere (unless I get the motor home upside down and then I have much bigger problems).

I am using 2 lifeline agm 300 amp 6v batteries from bd batteries mounted on their sides. i did not move the starting battery.
if i could relocate the starting battery, i could get 2 more of the 13 inch tall lifeline batteries in the box under my steps.
these puppies weigh 90# each and i fear that 4 of them would be too much for my battery box.

Thanks Tim, I didn't have to look up that pic after all. I noticed aftewr I took that pic that the step was hitting one batterie, so i put a 3/4" block owood under it & that solved the problem. In retrospect I would've put the starting battery in the middle & saved making a new ground connection. Again thanks for posting that pic.

On my Winnie, in replacing the house batteries I went with 2 group 31 batteries...A really tite fit,,but I got them in there with skinned hands...Good Miles

PS. I didn'tcheck the link to the thread , but a couple of years back there was info on 4/105 and they went in by turning the whole shooting match sideways..There was a photo also.

Like ichn2go, I replace my two house batteries with 2 group 31s. Bought AGMs, both from bdbatteries. Tight fit, but only had to extend the tie down rods.

i installed 2 lifeline 6 volt gpl-6ct batteries in series on THEIR SIDES for clearance. from bd batteries. 300 amp capacity. they are 13 inches tall and 2 just fit side by side under my staircase. they weigh 90# each.
i did not have to move the starting battery. if i moved the starting battery, i would have just enough room for 2 more gpl-6ct's on their sides.
i would be concerned about all that extra weight in the battery box. i don't know if the box could handle 360#. these batteries are very expensive and it would be a bad thing to be dragging one or more of them on the road.
i am "dreaming" about having 600 amps capacity though.
