Adventurer Propane Furnace Removal

A friend with an identical 2003 Adventurer 38G asked if I knew how to remove the propane furnace from the rear of the motor home. I thought it was simply to unscrew it and pull out the back. He said he removed the outside grill, but the unit is larger than the hole. Anyone done this?

I removed the furnace from our 01 Adventurer a couple years ago. It was a tight fit but not larger than the opening. Once the panel and exhaust tube are removed there are a couple screws holding the furnace itself into the sheet metal. Don't forget to shut off the gas and disconnect the line before sttempting to slide the unit out.

There should be a screw near the bottom front that says "Remove for service" If that screw is removed and the propane disconnected the furnace can be removed leaving the plenum and hot air hoses in place.
That is true for the two Suburban furnaces I have had (Winnebago uses Suburban).
