I am planning on installing a Firestik brand CB antenna just above the driver's window on my 04 Itasca Meridian. I am aware of the NGP (no ground plane) and Firestik coaxial cable requirements. I would welcome any suggestions on this installation, especially about antenna height and where to route the coaxial cable. I would mount the antenna 10' off the ground, that makes it about 1 foot above the window frame. It appears the fasteners and cable would be inside the overhead cabinet above the driver. Would I be better off using a 3' or 4' antenna? I would use the Firestik spring at the base of the antenna.
Yes, I do have the factory mounted CB antenna (tuned for SWR) on the roof and it is connected to my Cobra, but it's range is pitiful.

Catpowered, I unscrewed the OE CB antenna and used the same mount for the Firestick! Give it a try. The only thing you need to do is make a stud from a bolt to mount the mast. (cut off the bolt head) You'll see what I mean once you get started. It works great!

I can get you a picture in the morning, it's dark here at the moment.

Please send me a copy. What size antenna did you use and did you use the spring? Also any bridge problems?

A picture would be great. I am concerned about the instructions to use only the 18' coaxial cable that comes with the Firestik. I don't know if the Winnebago supplied coax will work the same.

The Firestix is designed to tune with the supplied coaxial cable. If the cable in the coach is not closely matched to the antenna, you may have trouble getting the antenna tuned properly.
