We will be getting our first DPMH next week and was wondering about deflating the air bags while parked. Should we do it if we are just staying over night. We will take delivery of a Meridian 34H.

Thanks Roy

Roy, congratulations on your new coach!

If you intend to use your leveling jacks, then the unit will require that you dump the air bags before leveling (this happens when you turn your HWH unit 'on' or 'auto level', depending on which you have.

If you are in a level site, and are moving out the next morning, or if you don't want to put the jacks down due to parking in a relative's driveway (jacks may make puck marks in the asphalt) then no need to deploy the jacks and dump air.

The one advantage of dumping the air bags is that it lowers the height of the motorhome relative to ground. This may be advantageous depending on the slope of the site you are in.

Even if you choose to not deploy your leveling jacks, but would like to lower the rig due to step height, then dump the air and not deploy the jacks.

Either way, it only takes a few minutes for your coach to air-up (never drive away without full air in the air bags). I also think it is good to exercise the jacks to keep them working well. So use them!

Since (Winnie's) don't have an indicator to tell when they are fully air'ed up, listen for the tell-tale release of air from the ping tanks . This will tell you that the coach is fully air'ed. Also make sure to visually check that the suspension is back up to drive height before moving the coach.

So do whatever fits the site you are in.

Roy:

Congrats on your new Meridian and welcome to IRV2 .

Don has pretty much covered it. It's really up to you if you don't plan to lower the jacks. We usually dump and put the jacks down even if we are just overnighting in perhaps a Walmart lot....primarily to stablize the rig and minimize bounce inside.

Now go get that bad boy, have fun in it, and come back often to share your experiences and ask for help.
