AM/FM Antenna Broken

We have an '01 Journey and the radio antenna just broke off leaving about 2" of rubber antenna. When I attempted to unscrew it broke off leaving the bolt in the cable receiver.

I'm thinking that I can drill out the screw portion of the old antenna and screw in a new one. If that is not feasible I will need to replace it with a new antenna including the ball joint that exist just before the cable.

Will a new antenna screw into the original cable or is this the kind of job that will require an entirely new cable as well?

Suggestions?

Nick

Our "Rubber Ducky" fell apart. I found a similar one at NAPA. It had lots of adapters with it and it took 2 to make it fit. It was about $10. I then re-caulked the area of the roof.

Walmart also has the replacement antennas with lot of adapters to fit almost any broken antenna situation. They are in the auto radio dept. I have had good success with them when I have had to replace a broken antenna. Tip: use lock tight on the replacement screws.
