Hi Guys:

The specs on my coach said my engine starting batteries should be 750 CCA's.

Does it make any difference if I put batteries in that are 950 CCA's..???

More CCA's the better??, or will it hurt the starter or electrial system?

Jim P., if you get 950s make sure they are the same Group Size (so they fit) and I would expect that you will do just fine. Can't have too many cold cranking amps especially if it is cold!

The other side of the coin is do you need to spend the extra money to get 950s rather than 750s IF there's a BIG price difference?

Regardless of what CCA battery you get, I do not expect that it will hurt the starter of the electrical system.

That will work fine Jim, it will do no damage and it may make the coach easier to start on a cold morning.

In all things electrical ratings fall into one of 3 groups.

CCA's and CA's are in the "OR MORE" group

Circuit breakers are in the "OR LESS" group

Voltage (Battery voltage for example) is in the "Range" group.. (IE: 12.6 to 13.6) or 110-125 (that's shore power)

The larger battery, if it fits, will do just fine.. The battery may last a bit longer than the original.. and as I said, on a cold morning it may start it better.. but it won't hurt anything less you drop it on your foot.

Hi Guys:

Thank you very much, I thought so, but I figure I better make sure. The sales people at Autozone and other stores don't know crap about Diesel batteries needed for a pusher. There seems to very little price difference between the 750 & 950 CCA's. So far I looked at Duralast and Interstate.

My house batteries (3) Interstate are 3 or 4 years old and going strong. My Engine batteries are (2) Duralast and are dead in 24 months. I know this is because I left them in this winter with the drain from the auto step and locks. But I have a plan for next year with the new batteries.

Disconnect the terminals and put solar charges on them.

Thanks for the help...

Jim P.
