i just got my "refurbished" inverter back from Dimensions and went out on a short trip this weekend. While the gen set is on the red light comes on about every 10 minutes and the panel states "charge off, high battery temperature". Any ideas? My batteries are less than a year old and the water levels are normal. Thanks in advance for any replies. I would have replied under the current Dimensions thread, but I didnt want to hijack it.

Is the battery temperature sensor cable attached at both ends?

That could possibly cause erratic behaviour.

Oh, I re-read your post. It happens when the generator is running. I had problems when I ran my generator instead of the shore power. When in inverter mode, the system would switch from invert to charge continuously about every 2 seconds. I had the Onan generator checked by Onan technicians; they could not find anything wrong.

Possibly the Dimensions inverter checks for "pureness" of AC (voltage, hertz) and kicks out due to a touchy parameter. I honestly don't really know. I know that the revered RS2000 does not cause that problem.

Good luck in your endeavor.

Wendell

I found this on the Dimensions website. I guess when all else failes read the owners manual. Maybe this will be helpful to others. Im going to try and slide my battery tray out and run my genny and see if the red light and gennie surging go away.

Red LED indicator light blinking. Indicates that
the SPS has shut off due to high battery
temperature 47?C 50?C (117?F-122?F).Battery compartment is too hot and needs to cool down. The charger will automatically turn back on when it has cooled down
to 40?C (104?F)

Gennie still surging every few seconds as the charger shuts off and turns back on due to high battery temp msg. I pulled the battery tray and the temp wire is connected to the rear most battery. I switched the wire to the middle battery and everything seems to work as designed. I hope this info might help someone.

It sounds like you need to replace the first battery. Have you checked it for a shorted cell? Just wondering.
