Answer to fogged double pane window
This may not work for everyone, but it did for me. The cost to just buy the thermopane window I needed was $565.00. Then I had to have it installed. Maybe $2-300.00 more. No Way.
What I did instead was buy a sping loaded center punch for $12.95, cover the fogged window with DUCT Tape. Then I used the center punch to hit the inside pane. Bang the inside pane was in a thousand pieces but attached to the DUCT tape. Out it came, and I cleaned the gasket of remaining glass. Next I masked the window and the frame and black chalked the gasket.
No more fogged window. Next fall I'll put 3M film on the outside of the window frame and all will be fixed for under $20.00.

'pine tree',
Certainly a low-cost approach to solving a foggy window issue, but probably not for everyone. I'm not sure my DW would appreciate?

Yep, my husband did that exact same thing as you, pine tree. Our passenger front side window was so fogged that we couldn't see the side mirror, which we considered a safety issue as well as being a cosmetic issue. Now it is as clear as GLASS!

I would understand her. I have to admit that I was not too keen on the idea when my husband first presented his solution to me. I looked into what it would cost and the effort involved with replacing the window, and so I also came to the conclusion that this was a good fix, even if temporary. It is safer and looks so much better now. If we ever decide to replace the window, then there is no loss as that fogged window would be out of there and trashed anyway. At least until then we can SEE perfectly out of it!

Chiefjohn,
I said it may not work for everyone. Don't want to get into the problem with your DW. However, after 55 years of dealing with a DDW I can say for sure that sometimes a choice between paying $800.00 bucks for a window that we don't need and paying for all the fuel on our next Florida trip she has no answer. Besides if you just did it, she would never ever know it was no longer a thermopane or a single pane. That is, until you told her of course. [which I recommend doing]

Pine Tree,
Understand completely -- I was jesting with you and did not intend to reflect negatively on your fix.
