I just recently bought a 1995 Winnebago Brave 32' diesel pusher. It had two short rubber antennas on top front til the truck wash racked them off. I have ordered radio and CB antenna. Isn't that what they were? Which one is for radio and which for CB? Any tips on replacing them? They'll come with gaskets won't they? I ordered from Lichtsinn Auto, Forrest City, Ia.--which is winnebago dealer.

Yes it appears that they installed both a radio an CB antenna on that model.

even if the come with a gasket I would caulk the bejesus out of them with self leveling caulk.

The only way to be sure as to what they are is to trace wires.

If you have a CB. disconnect it, likewise pull the antenna lead (Big, uusually black) out of the radio.

Now, apply 12 volts to one, and only one.

Go topside and find a ground (The nut on the winegard's antenna is a ground)

Use a volt meter or test light to identify the "HOT" remains.

I wouldn't recommend applying 12 volts to the antenna leads. If the remains of the antenna on the roof is shorted to ground, the coax could melt-down in seconds and start a fire. I've done something similar, but using a 1.5 volt C or D cell. There's not enough energy there do do any harm.
If you have a helper, you can turn on both radios (with antenna leads attached) and have someone listen while you go on the roof and touch a length of wire (3 feet or so) to the spots where the antennas were (one at a time, of course). Your helper should hear an increase in received signal when you touch the right spot.

If they were short black antennas AND you have a radio in the bedroom AND one was forward and one aft they are probably both fm radios. The cb is usually a metal whip with a spring attached to the roof above the drivers head and is foldable.

Good point on the possible short.. Apply power via a light bulb of the same voltage. that way if there is a short, the light lights on the apply end.
