Folks,

I am looking at the 2011 Itasca 40CD and it has the full size refrigerator in it and am wondering has anyone looked at doing the conversion themselves?

I guess after you figure out how to get the refrigerator in the RV , then what changes to the inverter would be needed? I am not sure it makes sense since we routinely use the propane feature for the refrigerator while traveling.

My mind is always looking at options and since the RV is so new, there is not much to work on at this point .

The other project I may tackle while I have the RV out this time (4th July holiday) is the A/V switch. It seems the hook up the way the dealer setup does not allow for SAT to share the diect tv box but rather requires a sep box in the rear bedroom. Is that how everyone's elses RV is hooked up?

Thanks for the help

Several have made the change to household refrigerators. You should find numerous discussions if you search the forum for "Norcold replacement" or similar phrases.

Not sure how they set them up now, but on my Journey the original set up allowed me to send the SAT signal to both the front and rear TV. However, that meant you had to watch the same program on both TV's if you only have one SAT receiver in the front. If your SAT antenna has outputs for more than one receiver, you can put a second receiver in the rear of the coach. To do that you may have to run a second coax from the SAT dish to the rear receiver (or you can use diplexers if you only have one cable running from the front to back). Diplexers will allow you to run both the SAT and regular antenna signal thru one coax.

I just ran the SAT cable into the electric bay with a connector. This way I run two cables from the protable dish. It might be a little harder if you're doing it from a roof mount.

Regarding the satellite connection, on my Journey, you can hook the front receiver into two different wall jacks. One is hooked to my dome, and the other jack is connected to the external satellite dish (connector in the electric compartment).

For my set-up, you can have a separate receiver in the bedroom, but the wall jack there only hooks to the dome.

I have the Kingdome, and Dish service. My front HD-DVR receiver will point the dome dish to any of the three satellites as needed, for full HD programming. However, the bedroom receiver, is wired such as to not allow it to point the dome dish. It has to rely on the front receiver to point the dish, or you can use the rocker switch on the KingDome control panel to manually point the dome dish.

What we have done, when staying long term, is hook up a stationary external dish that gets all three satellites to the external connector, and then to the front receiver. And just use the dome for the bedroom receiver, with pointing the dish, done manually as needed.

When travelling, we just use the dome for both receivers, but then we are missing the extra abilities the stationary external dish gives to the DVR for multiple recordings at the same time.
