I normally chain and lock mine to pedestal..I'm thinking about putting a Biohazard decal on it..

I have not locked mine and have had no problem so far. But then there's always a first time.

We locked ours to the cord, attached a new 25'cord to it and keep it in the electrical locker.

We use one all the time, without a lock--so far so good!

I have a Progressive IndustriesSurge Guard in my class C, 30 amp. I cut the cord about 2' and have the portable guard inside the locked compartment out of sight and weather. The only thing showing is the cord plugged into the pedestal. Too easy for someone to turn off the electricity, cut the cord and take the surge guard. Probably not going to happen but once would be too often.

I have a lock on mine. Got it at Camping World. I also lock the pedestal cover. Most of them have a place for a padlock.

I just recently posted that I bought a KIT that will allow my portable Progressive Industries 50 amp EMS unit to become a connectable unit that now stays in my electrical compartment. This kit will now allow that, as it utilizes your current power cord and allows installation of the included female and male recepticles.

The portable unit stays out of sight!

HERE is my recent post about the above conversion

We have about 250 nights on ours with no problems. The lock was about $30 and I used a good combination lock. It is certainly worth the expense. We have on ocassion stayed at a few rough spots and I never gave it another though. I guess a their could saw through the metal, but it would probably wake me up first.
