Anyone taken a WIT tour?

We went to Alaska by ourselves and saw more and stayed longer than the caravan did but am thinking of doing the Calgary Rally. I thought it would be fun to be with others. Has anyone gone on the Calgary Rally or one of the caravans and did you feel it justified the cost? Thx

We have been to three WIT Rallies: New York, Washington DC, and Mardi Gras. We went on the Maritime Provinces Caravan.

The rallies are utterly fantastic ... things are arrange ahead of time and you don't have to worry about how to get there, where to park ... and the guides that they are contract with are very good. The caravan was very good but moving 20 coaches from place to place requires a lot of organization ... but the directions for where we were to go, what to see in route, and the "window" for arrival were all meticulously detailed so that everyone that paid attention new what was happening ...

We did the #1 Alaska caravan this year . It was a great time, well worth the money, and are planning to do anoter one in 09.

Caravans and rallies are quite different. I'm not so sure we would ever do a rally but the caravan was quite an experience.

We had the Cowdens as hosts and the Wigleys as tail enders. I couldn't imagine better couples to be with.

My husband and I have been on several WIT Caravans. Alaska 2003, Maritimes 2005, Grand Circle 2007 We have been to several Rallys. Puerto Penasco, Mexico 2006, Norsk Hostfest 2006, Balloon Feista 2007

In fact we are on the way home from the Grand Circle and Balloon Fiesta. We can't say enough good about WIT rallys and caravans. You get your moneys worth and see more than what you would have paid for if you had been by yourself. You can make life long friends and are well taken care of.

Glad to hear all the positives as we are going on the Puerto Penasco trip in Feb. Can't wait. As for Alaska, we went by ourselves this past summer and saw all the caravans. We felt that we did more for a lot less $$$ and didn't have to stick to someone elses schedule. Great trip either way. If you haven't been, you should go.

Did Calgary in 05, WIT tours, cant say enough good things about them. Have had friends do same trip as us, but on their own. They think they did the same things as we did, but after compareing their trip to what WIT gives, and does for you. No comparison. Have done 4 caravans, plus numerious Rallys sponcered by WIT. Some people like to be there own boss, when it comes to traveling, which is fine, I think you see more, do more in the same alloted time useing WIT tours.

One nice thing about the WIT caravans is that all the campground reservations are made months in advance. There are a limited number of campgrounds in some areas so it wasn't uncommon to see people without reservations being turned away.

Also when you make reservations for 22 coaches you generally get the pick of the sites. In 39 moves on the Alaska caravan there was only one tight place. Keep in mind there few if any "resort style" campgrounds so a "nice place" is somewhat subjective.

It's a great way to go. You meet the greatest people! (Even on Grand Circle Caravan '07!)

Yes, it's a bit more $$$...but we enjoyed letting someone else make all the arrangements! And it's first class.

There were several things we did on GCC and Balloon Fiesta that we would never have done on our own. (Like pushing a 4X pickup truck out of the red sand in Monument Valley!)

There were a few people handy that helped us get out of a bit of a jam too. That's also why it's nice to go with the group.
