We are in the process of bying a Meridian DPMH 34H and it comes with Automatice satellite dish. As I inspected other Meridians (07)and it looks like it is not the King Dome that is in the brochure/picture. Their statement about "product improvement" coupled with $1250.00 price tag (MSRP seems to be a rip off. Maybe the ones I saw do not have the dome installed as of yet, but there is a crank in the ceiling of the MH that tells me it might be a crank up and then goes aotomatic.
Any thoughts would be very helpful.
Thanks Roy

Roy,
There are several types of satellite dishes:
- manual: Crank-up with digital elevation sensor
- automatic: fully automatic dish - finds the appropriate satellite when parked (not an in-motion system). This one offered by Winnie is a Winegard that looks like a manual satellite dish. When it is in travel position, it is only about 7" high.
- dome systems: They are both stationary and in-motion. I think the lowest-height one I've seen is about 15".
I chose the automatic dish, which looks like a manual dish. I needed this one for the low clearance for my storage barn. The dome systems would not clear my door. I also think this one may provide the best signal, as the signal does not have to go through a 'dome'. It's at least as good as a manual dish for signal, which is on homes all across America.
If you don't care about satellite when moving, then you have choices. I've only used my new automatic (Winegard) dish once -- found the satellite with no problem.
I had the manual dish before, and pointing it can be a pain.
If the unit you are buying has an automatic dish (like mine), then the crank inside could be for the TV antenna.
The price you quote sounds like the auto dish like I have (don't pay full retail -- negotiate!).
Good luck with your purchase! You will love your unit.

Roy - I'm not sure what your question is
Some dealers order product with various options - what you see in inventory is what the dealer thought buyers would want or what they would buy. Your job when coach shopping is to become an extremely informed consumer which would include studying the manufacturer's literature. If you think an option is a "rip off", order your coach like we did. You get to make the choice.
Don's treatise on RV TV choices is a good one.

R. Francis --
have 04 Vectra. I am not sure as to what you are stating but, I have Winegard in-motion system which does not have any kind of crank. My crank in ceiling is for the"bat-wing" ant. that is for the local channels only.

It sounds like the answer pointing out that the crank is as previously said is for the local broadcast stations. The manual broadcast antenna is standard on all Winne manufactured units. This alows the user the option to choose which broadcast feed to watch, either satelitte or local.
