Awning

Need some advise. Trying to figure out how to get my main awning down on my '95 Winnebago Vectra 35RQ. The awning is made by A&E Systems, model# 955BR18. I have been looking on the web but can not find anything. I have no manual for it.

Thanks!

Is your awning electronically controlled or manual?

If manual, on both ends, behind the support struts, are a locking bolts with a large plastic cap to make gripping with a hand easy. Loosen the locking bolts.

There are two plastic tabs near the locking bolts. Swing the plastic tabs up and out to free the inner support strut.

Next you need to unlock the awning by using the sheppards hook to reach up and and unlock the awning locking tab. If manual awning there should be a 1.5 inch long locking lever (tab) on both ends of the tube that the awning rolls onto. Usually the front locking tab is the one that unlocks the awning.

The awning should now be ready to deploy. Using the sheppards hook find the cloth tab (strap) located somewhere near the center of the awning. Hook the sheppards hook in the pocket sewn into the cloth strap and pull. If all was completed correctly the awning should begin to pull free. Sometimes an awning can catch and need a little extra pull.

I had a mechanical lock on the rear of my awning so check for other locking devices if your awning does not pull out.

Next extend both struts to desired setting. In rainy conditions you may want one corner of the awning lower to prevent rain water from pooling on the awning canvas.

If yoy have an electronic awning push the button or rocker switch.

Safe travels. JD

There are some YouTube videos on awning replacement. Check them out, they should answer most of your questions.
