Awning Problem, Heavy Rain Pulled Away From Coach

Sitting here in Anastasia State Park in Florida in just a normal everyday frog-strangler of a Florida type thunderstorm. Pitch black night.

Loud noise. Thought something hit roof. Looked between downpours and see my main awning is hanging down on forward end. Aft end has pulled away from side of coach and is resting partially on slide. Of course this is one of those fancy motorized jobs. Didn't have much wind or I would have retracted awning.

Anyone hear of just a heavy rain causing this failure? And (the important question) did insurance cover it?

Yes it has occurred before due to the weight of the accumulating water. Usually due to the awning not automatically dipping on the aft side and dumping the water.

There are a few posts regarding this happening.

That will depend on YOUR insurance and the agent. Some cover awnings, some don't, and some depend on the reason for it's failure!
