Awning rail re-attachment

I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't find the answer. 2007 Sunrise. Right after purchase the rear drivers side section of the awning rail became detached from the wall, tore the fiberglass up at the rear cap and ripped it up above the rail seam. Evidently this was/is a common problem as the dealer fixed it "no problem"! Now the front half of the awning rail has pulled loose and I'd like to know the proper fix. Winnebago and the dealer are no help. Does the fiberglass roof have to come up out of the awning rail and be coaxed out from under the front cap before the awning rail can be reattached? Or can you predrill holes thru the rail and fiberglass directly above the rain gutter channel and use self-drilling screws to re-attach the rail? I'd plan on using stainless steel screws and caulk around the heads when done?

Any advice would be appreciated!

It looks like the roof edge needs to be lifted.

Ask Winnebago if your roof edge is manufactured like pic.

This thread over on rvforum.net might be useful Roof separation from sidewall fix? (I believe that you need to join to see the pictures, but that doesn't cost anything.)

We had this issue on our 2007 Adventurer.
Turns out the screw heads failed (snapped).
It is a 'known' possible assembly issue on some late 06 to early 08 builds, and generally is handled at minimal to no cost - unless there was obvious owner damage/lack of maintanance. Search the forums, its not common, but it happens (popping screws).
I did a temporary fix on ours by carefully predrilling & screwing through the rail face in a couple spots. It held fine, but still had the factory do it right while at a GNR.
