Basement air service

I have basement air in my Horizon, I think it works fine but want to have it tested and the Freon recharged if needed. At the same time my Chassis air is weak and should be checked. am I stuck going to a dealer or can any residential heating and cooling outfit service these units?

There is great info about pulling the A/C unit by "Duner". It includes some tips on simple things to do, besides cleaning, while it's out. Do a search and print it out. I have had mine out twice and the last time it was very dirty on the intake side. On some coaches the inlet can be seen under the bed, but mine had to be pulled. It's not difficult,
As far as the freon, if it's working leave it alone. It is a closed system. It can be repaired by adding ports, but only when necessary. The other tip is to use only the cheapest angel hair filters so the air flow is not restricted. Change them often.

Good luck,
Dave

When we bought our MH and I began the process of learning about everything in/on the MH, I replaced the air filter with a Filtrete brand filter for asthmatics (me) and it has worked quite well for the 4 yrs. I have been using these filters.
The first 6 months I had to replaced the filter monthly, as it would coat with dust and dirt. After that 6 months it would not become dirty for 2 months, now the filter requires replacement every 3 months and the coach stays clean inside, no dust on flat surfaces, shades, etc.
Immediately after purchase I discovered it did not cool well. After some online research I learned that this is usually due to leaks in the ductwork behind the rear cap.
Armed with a bright flashlight and mirror, I inspected the entire ductwork from Coleman-Mach unit to where the ductwork disappeared into the MH roof. I found some splits in the corners of the ductwork, sealed leaks with metal duct tape, and it rather quickly began blowing out 45 deg. air at ceiling registers in the front of the MH. From what I learned, this duct leaking not uncommon for basement units.

I also used air conditioner coil cleaner spray detergent on the outside condenser coil, which seemed to improve performance too. Did not find a way to clean evaporator coil without removing the unit from MH and removing the enclosure.

Here are some useful links to our basement unit care:

I hope these links are helpful.

Basement Heat Pump,, Winnebago 2010 Adventurer 35Z, ordered Feb of 2010, took delivery Mar 2010.. The main problem I have is that the OD blower is now (April 14, 2017) being replaced for the second time.. First time froze-up bearing and motor shaft damage,, this time froze-up motor.. 27,100 miles on coach.. It always stays in climate control mode.. I need some suggestions on eliminating this re-occurrence.. GOD-Speed

Within one of the links I posted, is a solution. Replace the OEM bushings and pillows that have a grease zerk with permanently-sealed bearings
