Basement or Standard Awning

On a trip last fall the wire cover on the front strut of our Dometic 9100 power awning came lose and was lost on I 80. Today I attempted to order a new cover, but the online retailer has two kits available. One is for a "standard" awning, the other is for a "basement" awning.

I tried calling Dometic, but was transferred to the "JustAnswer" website. After a series of questions that had nothing to do with the subject (like how many miles do you have on the car) I gave up. Can anyone here tell me the difference between a "Basement" and a "Standard" awning.

You might want to call Winnebago Service.

Not positive but this may help to figure out which you need.

Power Awning Hardware Measuring Instructions:

·
Measure from top of door to the awning rail, this distance will tell you if you have enough room to install a WeatherPro and Power Awning.

These minimums needed to use STANDARD hardware

·Under 6" - advisable not to use Weatherpro, end of door will scrap fabric
·Need 6" to install WeatherPro with vinyl weathershield
·Need 7" to install WeatherPro with metal weathershield
·NOTE: Add 2" to the minimum needed if door is at or near center of awning.

These minimums needed to use BASEMENT hardware:

·Need 11" to install WeatherPro with vinyl weathershield
·Need 12" to install WeatherPro with metal weathershield
·NOTE: Add 2" to the minimum needed if door is at or near center of awning.

Thanks everyone, it appears we have a "Basement" awning. I did call Winnebago and the answer was "Huh??" The technician had never heard the term "Basement Awning" before. He was however able to give me the part number for the awning hardware installed on our coach. A little cross checking revealed it is what Dometic refers to as a basement awning hardware kit.
