Bedroom Slideout Issue

On our 2000 Winnebego 35U, we noticed that the rear drivers side portion of the bed (at the foot)is lower than the other side. I stuck my hand under the bed box and felt the frame> one side was about 3/4" above the carpet and the right side I couldn't get my hand under at all> How do I investigate this? Has anyone dealt with this before? Do I have to remove the bedbox over the slide frame? This is our first RV and I have no idea> I'm very tool savy though and would appreciate some advise.

I am sorry I can't help you with your question. My suggestion is to call Winnebago Customer Service at 800-537-1885 and share your problem with them. They have always been very helpful to me.

I have 2002 35u and am having a hard time visulizing what you describe. does the slide move smoothly? when the slide is out look under it from the outside. is it even or is one side lower then the other? there are nylon pads that the slide rides on. I had one break and made the whole slide crooked by about 1/2 inch. they are very easy to change. if you think that is the problem send me a pm and I will try to help. you have to buy a kit of pads for about $28. do not tear apart the inside, they are replaced from the outside.

I have the same coach. By chance do hear hear a "pop" or "scrape" when the slide first starts to move, louder from one side that the other? Also, when observing the "foot" end of the bed, does it appear the "foot" end of the bed raises up about 3/4 inch just as the slide begins to move? Like mikf, I had an issue with one of the nylon pads the slide rail "sits" on and the above sounds started just before the pad broke. I agree with mikf, the pads, if thats the problem, can be easily replaced.

I did a visual inside through the hatch under the bed. the rear side of the bed is definately lower to the carpet than the inner(towards front) side. When I opened the slide, there was no raising of the foot end or popping noise. It slid fairly easily. When I looked at the exterior with the slide out, I pulled down the rubber seal and the whole slide is lower on the rear portion than the inner side (towards front). I didn't jack up the slide at this point yet as I'm in the middle of replacing old TV's to flat screens.

On my 05 Adventurer 35U the rear side of the bed had 1" aprox space that allowed the cold air return more air. The problem with the bed is the actual platform the mattress sits on. Raise up the platform and look at it from the bottom. Mine actually had a 1 1/2" sag in the middle, making it feel like the bed was sloped. (We are not heavy people). The platform is 1/8" plywood on a frame of 2 x 2 wood that is full of knots and breaks at every one. The head and foot is 3/4" plywood, but that does nothing for the center. A very cheep product in an important area.

Hi Mike, I took the RV in to get de-winterized and had them take a brief look at it. They couldn't see anything obvious and suggested I take some of the bedframe apart to save costs. We are going away this weekend to a Hot Springs and I didn't want to take a chance on not getting it back together or open a "can of worms" right now. I'll do that next weekend. I'll take some photos of what I find and post them.

hi..i have a 2001 35u itasca ... the foot of the bed to the rear is lower than the front which i attribute to the fact that the track the bed rides on is in the front..on mine you can look thru the air vents on the back of the bed and see the slide track..it has never posed a problem..if the entire slideout is lower in the back as observed from the outside(the bottom edge of the slidout does not align with the trim) then there is an adjusting screw which i believe you access thru the compartment above the propane tank..i've done it a long time ago and can't remember the exact location..my rv is in storage so i wont be able to check it for 2 months but maybe someone else has more detail on this..jim..

Jim the adjustment for the front of the slide is accessed thru the propane compartment. I think the rear one must be above the heat pump, but not sure what is envolved to access it.

I finally had a chance to have a look at things.

I did as Mike suggested and lifted the slide. Under the rear corner, I found the tephlon pad he described. It was in good condition. I started nosing around for some type of adjustment on that side. I opened the furnace door on the basement and low and behold, there was a bolt just above the left corner of the furnace that I adjusted and it raised the pad and corner of the slide. I went inside and measured and it was even from the ceiling all the way across. It even raised the rear front corner of the bed. Probably saved myself about $400-$500 not having to take it in for a technician to fart around with.
