bedroom tv access stuck

I have a silly problem. I can't swing the TV out in the bedroom of my Horizon 40 KD

It is located over the washer/dryer and I can't budge the latch. Anyone encountered this? Suggestions. Hammer, torch etc:-) Thanks in advance

Remember the Larson cartoon of the boy pushing on the door labeled pull?

It was not intuitively obvious, but our bedroom TV latch is pushed in to release the TV to pivot out on our Journey. Might this be your problem?

The latch, if it is the turn knob in the lower right hand corner, swings horizontal against a vertical wood strip. It is possible the length of the wood strip is too short and the latch has slipped beneath it so the bottom of the strip is keeping the arm from turning up to the 90 deg. position. I would try pushing down on the bottom right hand corner of the door to relieve the pressure and turning the knob. Let us all know how everything worked out; someday someone else will have this problem.

Well, I tried both suggestions. The knob will push in slightly or pull out slightly but no joy.

I can fell and see a rod that moves near the bottom of the door but I cannot see or feel the latch that sounds like it is on the left.

I was hoping some had already experienced this problem and had a hint other than use force.

Our coaches are so much alike I would be surprised if the mechanism is that much different. On mine the knob takes a pretty hefty push to release.

I am out of state at present, but if I do not see something here saying you have things figured out I will go to the coach next week and get you some pictures of the mechanism.

I have the older style bedroom TV (not a flatscreen) in my 2003 Journey 36GD, which would be too heavy to pivot out. Can't figure our how to remove it. Anyone have any experience removing these heavy TV's?

I have a 2005 39K and removed the CRT TV in the bedroom. Perhaps they are similar. Click on the blog URL in my signature and go to June. Scroll down to the last entry and you can get an idea of what I did.

I have not seen a stock 2005 39K, so I am not sure, but I believe that mine had been modified before I bought it. The first picture shows you what I started with. The base of the TV was held down with two screws just visible in the picture. The digital converter was wedged in place and held there with double sided tape. It looked like some trim was removed to accommodate the digital converter. The rear TV was not too bad. The front was considerably heavier and thankfully that had been changed out by the PO.

Good luck. I think you will like the flat panel TV once you are done.

Thanks to SVTotem for the pictures. It took a hammer to persuade the button, but it opened. Since we seldom used it it had become corroded. I feel stupid that I could'nt remember which way the button moved. It looked like it should pull or turn. Anyway thanks to you for the help and to everyone else for their suggestions.

You are welcome. I had the same problem. I know they must have gone over it on the PDI, but it is hard to remember everything. We felt pretty silly when the tech showed us after taking the coach back for a few other things.

Sure does look like it should be a pull, doesn't it?

Roy, if you are handy, take that old heavy tv out and replace with
a small flat screen, I did and gained a whole bunch of storage
space behind the tv. I cut the old frame and attached a flat
screen frame to it, not hard at all.

Actually I went 1 better and replaced it with an LED model from Samsung that slipped right in between the metal frame and the wodden trim. Just some foam cut to hold it in place. Now I will build a panel to hide the opening above it (about 4 inches)
