I didn't want to order a replacement window for two reasons. The first was the cost and the second was the concern that the problem might ultimately occur on the replacement window.
Consequently, I tried gluing the two sides together but it didn't hold. As a temporary fix, I simply pinched the two halves together with a small c-clamp. Eventually, I fabricated a u-shaped part (made from bending a short piece of metal stock) and glued it in place. I used vice-grips to hold the split pieces together while slipping on and gluing the makeshift clamp. Its a tight fit so the glue is probably unnecessary. At any rate, its holding fine.
