I bent the Kwikee steps on my 04 Adventurer and have tried for 2 days to call Kwikee to talk about repair or replace options. The 800 number given on the website(800-736-9961) does not seem to be in service as a recording says the call cannot be completed as dialed. When I call the other number(541-942-3888) it is always busy-called it at least 30 times in 2 days. Does anyone know of a good number for Kwikkee or is there another company that may sell remanufactured Kwikee steps? I have taken the steps off but they appear to be more than I can fix. Thanks for any input.

You can purchase just the frames and save a bit. You just transfer the electronics and servo unit from the old to the new before installing it.

Kwikee has gone through some changes however you can do a google search for kwikee step frames to find the correct frame for your application along with a discount supplier. Depending on the model you have you could be talking about less than $200 for the frame.

Those numbers aren't any good anymore. If you do a search you can find a new 800 number that tells you where a nearest dealer is. Seems they don't want to talk to customers anymore! You would have to order the whole step frame from a dealer. I was just done this road trying to find a rivet for my steps.

I visited a body man.. What needed welding was welded, what needed straightening we hooked a chain fall between his shop and the steps and un-bent them.

I mean the man can straighten frames on trucks.. Straightening those steps is light work for his hardware.

I am glad someone brought this subject up, as I had perfit align steps, untill I forgot to pull them in when I moved the RV, needless to say, I bent them, I went and did my best to str8 them out, but could use a little more, so as soon as the rain stops I will try one more "day" if I can't get it any better then maybe a bodyman, thanks for the idea never thought about a bodyman.

The arms will have been damaged to some extent around the pivots and rivets so anything but the most modest straightening would only further weaken them. Having the steps break while someone is standing on them could cause a serious injury or possibly kill somone.

When you bend steel it becomes embrittled and subject to sudden failure where it was bent.

You would be rolling the dice on a lifting device that supports your most precious cargo, you, your family and friends.

I have had people turn around in my site and bend my steps so bad with their vehicle that a simple straightening could not be done and still maintain the integrity of the steps. I called around to get the closest replacement which was at Camping World and played it safe. I did not need to contact Kwikee etc. It was fast, simple and above all the safest option.

Those that drove off without retracting their steps on a Winnie manufactured in the past ten years may need to get their coach checked as there has been an ignition interlock installed on most if not all of them that automaticly should retract the steps whenever the engine is running to prevent this from happening regardless of the position of the bypass switch.
