Black Particles Coming Out Of Faucet

I have black color water with particles coming out of the kitchen sink faucet. It only comes out when using cold water. I have a 2004 Journey. The black water has moved to the shower but not all the time. I put a new water pump in last summer but would think all the sinks and shower would have this problem. Any ideas?

Is there a chance a charcoal filter is leaking charcoal into the stream?

Is there one in line on a Journey? Could the one for the filtered water at the sink be leaking backwards. The water coming out of the filtered water is clear and the ice maker is clear.

I had the same problem. Black carbon particles are coming from your undersink ADC filter. The filter has come apart inside and the particles are being syphoned back into the cold water line. Remove or replace the ADC filter.

Some are whole house, other's are higher quality filters that feed the ice maker and separate water tap on the sink. Dunno what causes one to be installed over the other.

I just changed mine today. Bought the filter at Camping World in Bowling Green, KY. It is a pretty easy switch out. Just push up on filter and turn to the left about 1/4 turn and the filter will drop out in your hand spilling about 4 oz of dirty water. New one goes in very easy by just reversing the process. It was $42. I had to wash out the strainer in sink faucet as it was clogged with carbon. Be sure to turn off water pump. I also needed a flashlight to see under the sink. Be sure to put the handle back in same position so icemaker will still receive water.
