Black Water Tank
2003 Winnebago Adventurer G35U
I have on occasion seen small bits of oxidized (rusted) metal caught in the sewer hose after having emptied the tank. 
Also noticed a small drip coming from the handle of the slide valve of the black water tank.
First thought was a piece of the lining of the tank (it is 15+/- years old). Then when I saw the drip at the handle wondered if the slide could be the culprit.
Do these tank oxidize to a point where the tank would develop leaks/fail?
I have ordered two new Valterra Slide Valves. Will replace both Gray/Black tank valves tomorrow. Not sure if the original valve is made of plastic or metal.
Any thoughts??

To my knowledge tanks and valves are ABS plastic, only valve operating rod should be metal, well, and the tank sensors that penetrate the tank wall.

The toilet empties into the black tank onto a slide/chute that I'm sure is metal. I have previously inserted a hose down the opening. It drops approximately 4 to 6 inches and makes a left turn towards the opposite wall and appears to then drop toward the rear of the MH.

Interesting... I would think the toilet is attached directly (or via a short, straight collar) to a plastic tank, per the plumbing diagrams for your coach:

Google "RV tank struvite". It built up onto my black tank valve and wrecked the seal. Using certain tank chemicals can cause this.

I have to believe you have it correct. Read up on the subject and it appears to be the problem. Been 24/7 for 2 years and have been using Campa-Chem Natural Toss-Ins RV Holding Tank Treatment - Deodorant / Waste Digester / Detergent.
Just ordered TankTechsRx - RV Holding Tank Treatment & Cleaner - 33.8 ounce = 68 treatments - All Natural Probiotics for RV, marine, camping, portable toilets.
Supposed to help rid the problem short of finding someone with a camera and high powered spray. I'll let you know how I make out.

You don't see much about struvite on RV forums and websites. When I bought my RV and discovered it all I could wonder was what the hell the previous owner was dumping in there. It actually accumulated on the drain valve like concrete and ground down the seal like sandpaper.
I haven't tried the tanktechs treatment, I just replaced my black tank valve and whatever is in the tank is still there. Will be interesting to see if that tank treatment can actually reverse the accumulation.
This experience has made me really leery of any kind of adjuncts so I've settled on just using borax and dawn. This guy has a pretty good video that matches what I think is a valid black tank process. I have had zero issues when draining, my sensors work and no issues with odor.

I'm in the process of cleaning my black water tank now using TankTechsRx. By the reviews and videos I've read and watched it is suppose to be great at dissolving the gunk and struvite to flush out.
