Broken Slide Out Schwintech

Well on the last 3 days of a 30 day trip our large wall slide would not fully go out. After arriving home and going through several diagnostic checks with Lippert customer service (which was excellent) it appears that I have a major failure. The top leading edge is tight and the bottom is stuck out about 2 inches. All of the switches and controllers appear to be working properly. Lippert suspects something broke in the support or roller system thus damaging the power drive system (believed to be a mechanical issue).

So, now I will see how good the Good Sam extended warranty really is!

Thoughts or comments?

Dave

Communicate the issue to WBGO directly - if you have the original Schwintek (Lippert) system (fixed rails) replacing it with the same may not help long-term. WBGO has been good about courtesy fixes out-of-warranty and often has been doing the repair at the Forest City factory or authorized, experienced dealers.

Alternatively - you'd want your warranty to pay for the best fix possible, and the repair can be done at an experienced dealer ...

Discussed the problem with Winnebago factory service and they concur with the current diagnosis and agree that my model year has experienced this proble, but usually much earlier on. That said they are not willing to make the repair for free 2 years after the warranty. They are glad to fix it for the normal rate.

They did recommend a shop in Denver which I have booked for 2 weeks from now. So, back to the Good Sam warranty. Lippert claims the replacement system is improved.

Wonder if WBGO / Lippert would kick-in for the parts and let your warranty pay the labor? Whichever way - work with your warranty company to see if they will approve installation of the 'new' system ...

Good luck!
