C93 Light bulbs

Since I just had my first burned out porch light I have come to a few conclusions. When I took off the lens I found the dreaded C93 China bulb. I remembered that I had seen info on that bulb and saved it to my computer. Upon looking at the information I had, the C93 is 1.04 amps, 13.3 amps and 700 hours. However, that info indicates these bulbs are very hard to find and there are suitable replacements. The best replacement appears to be a 1093 bulb (1.19 amps/15.2 watts/1000 hrs). My spare parts locker has neither of these bulbs so.... The info also stated that an 1141 bulb (1.44 amps/18.4 watts/1000 hrs) is a somewhat hotter (38%) but suitable replacement. Having one of those, that is what I used. I then took a look at the bulbs in the compartment lights and found that they are all 1141. Since the cover for the compartment lights is softer and just as close to the bulb I think that as necessary I will use 1141s for C93 replacements.

The label inside my porch light fixture indicated use of a #93 (which is 13.3W) or a #1003 (which is 12W) bulb. I would expect you could find either of those at most any Auto Parts store. I know that some folks have melted the lens by using too high a wattage bulb.

i use the 1003 lamp in my outside porch light and the utility light on the side of my moho above the water service compartment.
the larger lamps were a little brighter but burned a hole in my porch light lens.

Same here with my last coach. When I bought it someone had replaced the 1003 with an 1141 and the lens melted. I had to replace the whole fixture.

I only use the bulb as stamped on the inside of the fixture now for any light.

Get an LED light. Light output is greater, color is good and power is much lower. Not much heat either.

IMO, Command Electronics sells the best ones. They don't have "bulbs" that fit every application, but for the applications they do have, they are great! I replaced most of the incandescent bulbs in my coach with them, now I don't worry about the family leaving the lights on.

Mike, that is where I got the information originally. Rocket, I am going to look at the Command Electronics info shortly. I also think that LEDs are the way to go but currently I am having a hard time getting past the $12.50 to $25 cost. That is okay for one bulb (?) but after a while it adds up to real money. Especially since it is difficult to be sure you are getting a quality product that will actually last.
In any case, what I have actually done is take the C93 from the left side outside light and put it in the right side light and the replacement 1141 went in the left side light. In seven years I have probably turned on the left side light five times (maybe). In the meantime I will look for C93s or 1093 or even an LED or two.
