Finally got the baby out for an overnighter. Left VB late in afternoon Wednesday taking 460 over to I 295 N. Not too much trafic but everytime one of the big dogs came but it was hold on for dear life. A few minutes later I'd have blood flowing back into the knuckles. With a cold front blowing in the wind pushed me a little but soon became aware that two hands on the wheel worked better than one. I looked like a kid at one of those race car video games moving wheel back and forth....got hit with rain so the wipers gat a good test. The 07 Journey has "intimedant" wiper position but I could not increase the speed of this function. Arrived around 11 pm in Staunton ("Stanton") VA and stopped at the Walmart for rest. Made about four trips into Walmart buying things. Letting us use their parking lot was good for their profits that evening. Went up into Churchville next morning. I had driven the toad a little that morning and found that if I took 250 through Staunton I'd have one heck of a time with all the short corners and narrow streets, so I found a better way back out to rural 250 W. I was trying to locate Rt 716 which was not on the map. Had a work site I needed to see. Stoped in Churchville at the Rescue station and the ladies were very helpfull. Found Rt 716 and realized RV would not fit down dirt lane and besides that brighes had a 9 ton limit. At this point 250 went up the mountain with no turn outs. Drove about 4 miles up, some steep, most nicely sloped, withil I found a place to make a full turn around. Drove back a ways and found a food service station, diesel price 2.659, that let me park the MH for a few hours. While unhooking the taod I inadvertlenty left the MH door open, dog being a miniture dachs and exetremy courious got out when my back was turned. Unhooked the toad, realized the door was open and dog was gone! Now this animal belongs to my dear darling 31 year old daughter, if not found I don't go home!!! Dog being quick had traveled about 300 yrds down the road and playing her hunting games. Whew, got her back into the MH. Everything is now shinning better and death no longer lurks at me door! Took toad to work site, got back to MH, reconnected toad and headed for X 94 on RT 64 E. Had to stop at Home D to meet one of the workers from the job site for an audit interview. MH preformed great, computer table set up was terrific, drinks were cold in refer and audit took about 3 hours. Pulled out of HD and headed east on 64. About 10 miles down the road a car pulls in front and as it exits the driver starts pointing out the window as if he wants someone to follow. Like maybe he's traveling with someone and he wants them to follow. Now this is going up Afton Mtn. As a broach the top and start down another car pulls up along side and starts waving at me and pointing her finger to the side like telling me to pull over. Now I'm not saying I'm a good looking guy but this young blonde is trying to get my attenion. Since I know it's not my good looks I figure somethings wrong, and I exit at the war memorial on the down hill side of the mountain. I good back looking and one of the cables is off the MH attached to the toad??? Now I know it was attached to the MH and toad before I left 716 and 250, and I hadn't unhooked so how does a safety cable with a spring hook come unhooked from the MH (???) after leaving the HD parking lot. Maybe grimlens?? Did someone intentionally unhook hte cable?? How did it unhook itself with a spring clip?? IF you.ve experienced a cable coming undone on its own let me know. Anyway lesson learned,,,,,ALWAYS CHECK TOAD HOOKUP!!!!. Left late, went back same way, 64 E to 295 S to 460 E. By the way, the Hess truck plaza at 295 and 460 had diesel at 2.619 so I filled the baby up. 61.x gallon, trip computer indicted 8.0 miles per gal, ran genny for about 14 hours while rig was stopped to keep dog comfee while I was gone and also to run AC during first night. Total mile was approximately 450. So 450/8 = 56 gal for driving and ~ 4 gal for genny. (??) Cheap genny run. Got hoem late in evening Thursday but very satisfied with MH and experience. Now if I can figure out how to paint in the state maps I be one contented puppy my self.

I'm on the hwy.....see you their....

Thanks for sharing your story. I've had good looking blondes pull me over lots of times... but then I wake up.

One suggestion please--paragraphs always make a long post easier to read (my old eyes ain't what they used to be!)
