Can wallboard be painted?

Has anyone painted the wallboard in their RV? I'm specifically looking to spruce up the bathroom in my '01 class A. If so, what type of paint? How is it holding up? Thanks.

We did and it turned out great. We used the paint from Lowes that has the primer already in it and one coat did the job.

I did the bathroom in our 2000 Itasca Horizon. Used Kilz oil base primer and then repainted with a faux finish my wife wanted. Turned out very nice.
