Chassis Battery Disconnect 'ping' sound?

Does anyone know where the 'ping' sound comes from when you switch off the chassis battery disconnect switch?
I just realised that I didn't hear that noise when I parked the coach today and I never thought to find out where the sound came from when it worked.....makes me wonder if something has failed in those electrical things!

The noise might be coming from powering down the LP detector. I get a ping when I turn the power off.

My coach monitoring system emits three 2 beep or ping warnings to advise the 12vdc has been shut down.
Some coaches only issue the warning if the inverter is turned on.

I always thought it was some sound emitting device that was built into the switch.

No joke

There is a dash mounted rocker switch that you can switch on or off to disconnect your chassis batteries.
When it is switched off it sounds a ping/chirp.
Extremely useful when storing your coach as it shuts down the smoke detector etc. and no battery drain.
Our little built in 10W solar panel that winnebago puts on is they quite capable of maintaining the batteries.

My boost solenoid simply thunks. My 12v disconnect simply clunks.

Thanks to all that responded. No, there's no joke here. I store the coach inside a farm building so the solar panel does not work. I'm concerned that I didn't really disconnect the coach batteries. The solenoid has been replaced once already because it was not allowing the alternator to charge the coach batteries.
Maybe one of the other Destination / Latitude people will chime in?

After you push the switc h to OFF, go to your panel and push on the HOUSE BATTERY TEST, it should remain blank verifying the house batteries are disconected., pushing down will give you the chassis battery reading and it will show a reading 12.5 to 12.9 depending.
also your alarms should show no little diodes lit up showing they are on.
I do this test every time I shut off my house batteries just to make sure.

I agree with DriVer. When you remove power from the LP detector, it pings or chirps in protest. Watch the light on the detector, if it goes on and off with the disconnect switch, maybe it's pinger died...

Thanks RCtime! I see now that I have to change my way of doing things. I hit the disconnect (located in the step well front wall) when I'm out of the coach, just before I shut off the steps and lock the door. I would listen for the 'ping' and think all was well!
I'll try your method.

I just flip on the porch lite as I leave. Then hit the disconnect for the house batts. If I'm locking the door and the outside light is on I know I didn't get it right.

Have an 09 Destination - do you turn off the chassis batteries or leave them on? I turn off the chassis batteries first (hear a relay "clunk") then turn off the House batteries and get the "ping." Always assumed (yes, I know) that it was a noise making device, as the detector's on mine are located under the cooktop (stove top) at floor level eight feet away, and the noise (ping), even without my hearing aids, sounds closer then that.
