I am thinking of ordering a Winnebago Outlook 31c, an '08. I am leaning toward the Chevy/Workhorse. Although the Ford has a higher tow rating...

The Chevy platform seems to be fairly new or at least there are not as many around.

I have been lurking for quite a while and reading posts. This would be our first RV.

Any thoughts on the issue?

Thanks,

Dan

There's a new look for the '08 Ford's. To say it's ugly would be a HUGE understatement. But it does offer a 14,500 pound GVW.

Not much info on it out there yet, I'm sure more will be out soon.

When we were shopping for our '07 Spirit 31C, I really wanted to get the Chevy, as it drove way better than the Ford (test drove several, all the Chevys drove better than all the Fords) but we caved because of the towing capacity 3500 vs 5000 pounds. Because we wanted to be able to tow our Honda Pilot, we had to go with the Ford. If you are not going to need 5K, seriously think about the Chevy/Workhorse. It was much more stable, no steering wheel wander, no porpoise suspension, etc.

With the Ford, it seems that everyone has similar problems, and they need to dump lots of $ into the suspension because Ford will not fix things.

I appreciate the information. Living on an island makes shopping somewhat more difficult!

Yes, I do think about our young men and women. The Run For The Wall is about 1/2 way across the US today.

Thanks,

Dan
