Coach battery charging through the step alarm fuse!

We've had a problem with our coach batteries in our 2003 Suncruiser not charging from the engine recently while dry camping in the Imperial LTVA.
The batteries got so low I could not start the generator so I ran the engine. Good idea right? To avoid having to listen to the ding ding ding of the jack alarm I pulled the fuse for the step alarm, (same circuit) good idea right. Bad idea.

I found after waiting a little while that the coach batteries were not being charged by the engine, rats the charging solenoid is shot TOO. I used jumper cables to charge the coach batteries enough to start the generator. We nursed our way though a day and a half like this.

This morning when I woke up it hit me the fuse for the step/jack alarm is pulled what's the chance that fuse also powers the charge solenoid circuit, I plugged the fuse in and started the engine. Wonder of wonder the coach batteries are now charging!

Thought I'd pass this on in case it helps someone down the road.

Camp happy this winter and thanks to all of you who have offered me help over the years.

In my case the AUX solenoid, the backup monitor, the "ignition on" signal to the steps, and the rear heater fan motor on the MotorAid are on that fuse. It's called a step alarm fuse because it tells the steps to come in when the ignition is on I guess. I had to go to the wiring diagrams to find it because what it is called made me think it wasn't the common point I was looking for.

You can see my post concerning the issue HERE
