ColemanMach true air no heat problem

I have a 40,000 btu basement heat/air unit that just stopped putting out propane heat last night. A/C and electric heat and fans work on high and low, but no propane! propane tank is full, stove, oven, fridge and hot water all work fine on propane. I checked the circuit breaker by entry door and all circuits are ok, nothing tripped. Any thing else to check before calling the Rv repair guy and spending 100's of $$$?
please and thank you.
Milo

Does the furnace blower come on?

If the blower comes on it should close the sail switch if working properly.

Youtube is your friend .....especially if you're handy. If you're not handy it can still be helpful when deciding if your tech is troubleshooting effectively.

yes, the blower fan comes on for 15 seconds or so, then cuts out. like there is no ignition of propane. where is the sail switch located?

Your basement AC is AC and electric heat only. The propane furnace(s) are totally separate units. I would start by finding the propane heater unit(s) on the outside, remove the covers and see if you can find any problems.

In most propane furnaces, pretty sure the sail switch is inside the furnace proper as it's a safety device. It's placed directly in the air stream and it allows the electronic ignition to ignite the propane. If it is defective, or there's not enough air movement to operate the switch, (or a wire has fallen off), the circuitry won't ignite the propane and will shortly afterwards shut down the fan.

First thing to do is check that the furnace filter isn't all clogged up.

Milom, your furnace is in the rear center under the floor. Looking low at the rear of the coach you will see a chrome plate with two holes one is the combustion air inlet and the other is the exhaust outlet for the furnace.

Thanks, I see the chrome intake and exhaust, but how do you get at the furnace to service or reset it? The propane will not ignite. is it newbie friendly or should it be looked at by a technician?

Might be best if a service tech looked at it. I pulled mine out once and even replaced the sail switch though that didn't fix the intermittent operation that had the same symptoms you have.

The furnace is pulled out from behind those chrome covers.

Always meant to get back to it but never did since I hardly ever needed the rear floor furnace. I could tell though that a couple extensions to electrical and propane would sure help when working on it out of the RV.
