My 2007 Suncruiser's info panel (where it indicates tank levels) does not operate accurately when connected to shore power - it does show correct readings when on 12V. I was told that this problem is related to the converter.

My question is: is this something I can live with or should I be looking to replace the converter.

Thanks

You would probably be better off with a better converter, both for multi stage charging and cleaner power.

May I assume that the instant you plug in it shows "FULL UP" on the batteries... This indicates normal operation of the converter and is nothing to worry about.. The reason is the charging voltage is greater than the full battery resting voltage.. This is as it should be.

This just started last year and to the best of my knowledge the only thing affected is the info panel. As i said it doesn't display the correct readings - might just be a voltage problem but i don't know how to correct that?

Couple of thoughts:

1. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check your 12 Volt system's voltage through a range of time to make sure that it's working properly. If you don't already have a voltmeter at your panel, a cheapie from WallyWorld or The Shack will be ok. You should read up on 3 and 4 stage battery chargers (Lots of places on the web for good info) so that you will know what is normal.

2. If the 12 volt system is working properly, and your level guages are just acting up because of the higher voltage when on shore power you can either choose to just take readings when shore power is off or install a 12 volt regulator (The Shack again) at the input to your guage assembly.
